A humanitarian volunteer from Jakarta, Ahmad Zaki Ali (42), died while delivering aid in Dampek, North Lamba Leda District, East Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Zaki is suspected to have suffered a heart attack due to exhaustion.

Basarnas Deputy for Operations and Preparedness, Major General (Marine) Edy Prakoso, said Zaki died while on his way to distribute logistical aid to earthquake victims. At the time, Zaki and his group were travelling from Reo, Manggarai Regency, to North Lamba Leda. Reo and North Lamba Leda are two areas severely affected by the earthquake in Flores.

During the journey, the founder of the Gerak Bareng Foundation felt that his health was deteriorating. Zaki asked his colleague to stop the logistics vehicle they were travelling in.

His colleague tried to help him, but Zaki then lost consciousness. He was taken to Dampek Community Health Centre and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
