Jakarta Earthquake Today: LRT Jabodebek Continues Normal Operations

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has ensured that all infrastructure and operational services of the LRT Jabodebek are in a safe condition and running normally following a 5.9 magnitude earthquake that shook the Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu) region, DKI Jakarta, on Saturday (12/9) at 04:23 WIB.

The Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika, stated that upon receiving information regarding the earthquake, officers at the Operating Control Centre (OCC) immediately conducted monitoring and coordinated with field personnel. This monitoring was supported by the Seismic Detection Alarm System (SDAS), which provides information regarding the impact of earthquake vibrations on infrastructure.

“After receiving information about the earthquake, officers immediately conducted inspections of the LRT Jabodebek infrastructure. These inspections were carried out to ensure that the condition of the tracks, signalling, stations, and other supporting infrastructure remains safe,” said Radhitya.

Inspections commenced around 04:30 WIB, and no damage or conditions impacting the safety or smoothness of LRT Jabodebek operations were found.

“Officers have ensured that LRT Jabodebek travel can continue to operate normally,” he explained.

SDAS is one of the safety support systems used in the operation of the LRT Jabodelag. The system helps provide information on the impact of vibrations on infrastructure, serving as a reference for officers when conducting inspections and determining necessary follow-up actions.

“LRT Jabodebek ensures that all information related to earthquakes is followed up through monitoring and infrastructure inspections. The safety of travel and passengers remains our priority in every condition,” Radhitya concluded.
