The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of DKI Jakarta is committed to strengthening legislative performance by drafting regulations that are responsive to the needs of the community. This step is taken to ensure that every policy provides tangible benefits for the residents of Jakarta.

Chairman of the DPRD DKI Jakarta, Suhud Alynudin, affirmed that his side will continue various positive achievements pioneered by the previous leadership. To date, the DPRD DKI Jakarta has successfully enacted 20 Regional Regulations (Perda) which serve as an important foundation for the city’s development.

“Good collaboration between the executive and legislative branches is needed in finding solutions to problems,” said Suhud in his statement on Tuesday (9/6).

Suhud explained that synergy between the legislative and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is the main key in facing development challenges, especially in improving economic welfare and the quality of human resources. Amidst dynamic economic conditions, this collaboration is expected to produce innovative development financing breakthroughs.

One of the DPRD’s main priorities going forward is to boost the regional economy. This will be carried out through strengthening regulations, optimising sources of regional revenue, and enhancing the role of Regionally-Owned Enterprises (BUMD).

In addition to its legislative function, the DPRD DKI also continues to strengthen its oversight function of the regional government’s performance. Suhud expressed appreciation for the achievement of an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), but he stressed the importance of following up on the existing notes for improvement.

“Together we move towards a new era that is more advanced, competitive, and becomes a cultured global city that is comfortable and safe for all its citizens,” added Suhud.

He affirmed his commitment to always fight for the aspirations of the people and prioritise the interests of the nation above personal or group interests for the sake of upholding democracy in Jakarta.
