INFO NASIONAL – The Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta) has expressed serious concern over the high incidence of digital violence affecting children in Jakarta. Justin Adrian, Secretary of Commission E of the DPRD DKI Jakarta, said that through its oversight and budgeting functions it is pushing for the development of a more targeted, data-based, and sustainable child-protection programme. He noted that digital violence such as cyberbullying, online exploitation, and the misuse of personal content poses a real threat that must be addressed systematically. Therefore cross-agency synergy, strengthening digital literacy, and education for parents and schools become the main focus. Justin assessed that data-based programme planning is needed to curb the prevalence of digital violence, which remains high. Based on 2024 data, he said, cases of digital violence in Jakarta are relatively high. About 75,000 bullying cases, 14,000 paedophilia cases, 603 grooming cases, and 205 revenge porn cases were recorded. “Based on the 2024 data, digital violence in Jakarta is very high,” Justin said during a working meeting of Pra-RKPD 2027 with the Dinas Cipta Karya Tata Ruang dan Pertanahan, and the Dinas Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. He considered this a serious issue that must be addressed through more concrete policy in the 2027 planning. Therefore, Justin urged the Dinas Pemberdayaan, Perlindungan Anak dan Pengendalian Penduduk (PPAPP) not only to draw up programmes reactively, but to base them on thorough and measured planning so that the handling can be more effective. “This is a real issue. There must be a clear and measurable programme in 2027,” he asserted. Justin hopes the Pra-RKPD meeting will be a momentum to formulate a comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable handling strategy. With such steps, child protection in Jakarta is expected to be more effective going forward. “Don’t act by accident. There must be careful planning,” said Justin. (*)
