Jakarta DPRD Applauds Jakarta Job Fair 2026
Ade Suherman, a member of Commission B of the Jakarta Provincial DPRD, has expressed his appreciation for the Jakarta Job Fair 2026, which will be organised by the Jakarta Provincial Department of Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy on 19–20 May 2026 at the Gedung Serbaguna Gelora Sunter, North Jakarta.
“Job fairs such as this are very important because they provide direct access for job seekers to the industrial world. However, the most important factor is not merely the number of visitors, but how much this activity actually results in labour absorption,” Ade Suherman stated last weekend.
The event, which features dozens of companies from various industrial sectors, is considered a strategic step by the local government to expand access to employment opportunities and reduce unemployment rates in Jakarta.
According to Suherman, the implementation of the job fair must be accompanied by the strengthening of job training programmes, competency certification, and the improvement of the quality of Vocational Training Centres (BLK) and Regional Job Training Centres (PPKD).
“We need a stronger ‘link and match’ system between job training and industrial needs. We must ensure that companies do not require ready-to-work labour while training graduates are not being optimally absorbed,” he said.
Ade also commended the involvement of companies from various sectors in this year’s Jakarta Job Fair, including the provision of participation space for persons with disabilities and MSMEs through supporting activities such as talk shows and business bazaars. He noted that such an inclusive approach is vital to ensuring economic opportunities are accessible to a wider segment of society.
Furthermore, Ade urged the Jakarta Provincial Government not to stop at merely organising the event, but to also strengthen monitoring and evaluation systems post-event. Data regarding employment absorption following the job fair should serve as the primary indicator of the programme’s success.
“The government needs to ensure how many job seekers are actually hired after the job fair takes place. Outcomes such as that must be the main focus,” he emphasised.
He added that Jakarta requires a competent, adaptive, and competitive workforce. Collaboration between the government, the business world, and training institutions must continue to be strengthened to ensure that economic growth truly delivers employment opportunities for citizens.
