Jakarta Deputy Governor Asserts Jakarta is Open to Creative Works

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, has asserted that Jakarta is not only open to investment, trade, and markets, but also to the creative works and intellectual property of its citizens so they can perform on the global stage.

“We want Jakarta to be a place where creative works are born and grow, meeting markets and reaching the world,” he stated during the JITEX 2026 event in Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Thursday.

This spirit is the reason why the Intellectual Property Festival (FKI) has been included in the series of the Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism, and SMEs Expo (JITEX) 2026.

Rano noted that JITEX and FKI are complementary. JITEX provides access to investment, trade, and global markets, while FKI brings creative works and innovation into that ecosystem.

According to him, when discussing Jakarta’s economy in the global market, it involves not only Jakarta’s products and investments but also creative works and intellectual property.

On this occasion, he also reminded creators of the importance of managing copyrights and intellectual property to ensure legal certainty, official proof of ownership, and protection from plagiarism.

“Sometimes we neglect the issue of copyright. We are in a globalised world; if we do not protect intellectual property rights, it is very dangerous,” said Rano.

JITEX 2026 is taking place from 16–19 September 2026 at JIEXPO Kemayoran. The event, organised by the Jakarta Provincial Government alongside the central government and various stakeholders, is expected to continue strengthening the ecosystem that connects Indonesian products with markets, buyers, investors, and business partners.

“We want to ensure that JITEX does not stop at meetings and business transactions, but becomes a driver for creating new opportunities, business agreements, and the growth of Jakarta’s tourism towards the global market,” he added.
