Jakarta — The Jakarta Provincial Government has committed to maintaining security and order during major religious celebrations in the capital.

This was affirmed by Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno after conducting a monitoring visit during the Lunar New Year 2577 Kongzili celebrations at the Bio Hok Tek Tjeng Sin Temple in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

“The Jakarta Provincial Government is fully committed to maintaining a conducive environment and strengthening tolerance amid the diversity of our society,” Rano explained on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.

According to him, the monitoring exercise was not merely a ceremonial agenda but also part of efforts to strengthen the relationship between the government and the public. He described the gathering with temple administrators and local residents as an important moment for building togetherness.

“With good communication and sustained togetherness, we can strengthen unity and maintain Jakarta’s harmony as a pluralistic city,” Rano said.

The Jakarta Provincial Government organised a series of Imlek Jakarta 2026 celebrations from 12 to 17 February 2026, concluding on 3 March 2026. The activities included the Jakarta Imlek Festival, an Imlek Decoration Competition, the Jakarta Light Festival — Chinese New Year Edition, and the Cap Go Meh Festival.

The series of events formed part of an inclusive cultural celebration open to all residents.

“We have organised this series of celebrations as a space for togetherness that embraces all elements of society. The identity and culture of Chinese-Indonesian residents is an inseparable part of Jakarta. Therefore, this celebration belongs to all of us,” Rano said.
