The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has launched a joint operation to crack down on illegal parking and rogue parking attendants at 15 vulnerable spots in Jakarta. A total of 600 personnel were deployed to restore the function of roads as public mobility spaces.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, stated that the operation is a firm step by the Jakarta Provincial Government to bring order, smooth traffic flow, and comfort to residents using public roads.

“Illegally parked vehicles and the activities of rogue parking attendants must not disturb the public’s right to safe, orderly, and comfortable roads. Therefore, we will conduct enforcement consistently and sustainably with all relevant elements,” Budi said, as quoted on Tuesday.

The joint operation involves 200 personnel from the Transportation Agency, 200 from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), 100 from the Social Agency, 50 from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and 50 from the Indonesian National Police (Polri). A total of 25 operational vehicles were also put on standby to support enforcement on the ground. Budi emphasised that the practice of illegal parking is one of the causes of reduced road capacity and impedes smooth traffic flow. Consequently, the crackdown aims to create a more orderly and safer transportation system.

The 15 priority locations targeted by the operation are spread across five administrative city areas, including the Kebon Sirih, Jalan Jaksa, Wahid Hasyim, Thamrin City, Casablanca, Rasuna Said, and Dr Satrio areas, as well as Cengkareng, Kalideres, Kembangan, Jatinegara, Kelapa Gading, Pademangan, and Tanjung Priok.

Enforcement actions include the ‘Operasi Cabut Pentil’ (tyre valve removal operation), towing of vehicles violating parking regulations, and the control of rogue parking attendants disrupting road functions and public order.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit, Satriadi Gunawan, affirmed full support for the operation as part of efforts to maintain order in public spaces. “This enforcement action is not merely a rule enforcement measure, but also a joint effort to maintain order in public spaces and provide a sense of security and comfort to the community,” said Satriadi.

Meanwhile, Head of the DKI Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency, Denny Wahyu Haryanto, said his party would conduct data collection and identity verification of rogue parking attendants caught in the operation. “We will carry out data collection and population verification to confirm the identity of the individuals concerned. If it is discovered that they are not residents of DKI Jakarta, further coordination will be carried out with the relevant local government in accordance with applicable regulations,” Denny stated.

Enforcement will be carried out firmly and continuously to realise safer, more orderly, and more comfortable traffic conditions in Jakarta for all road users.
