Jakarta Daily Roundup: All Landfill Collapse Victims Found, Accident on JORR Toll Road

Jakarta — Several events marked Jakarta and surrounding areas on Tuesday, 10 March, ranging from the discovery of all victims of the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) collapse, a car-free night during Ramadan taraweeh prayers evening, to a multiple-vehicle accident on the JORR toll road.

All landfill collapse victims at Bantargebang have been found

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Jakarta stated that all victims missing due to being buried in a waste heap collapse at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) have been found. At 23:30 WIB, the combined search and rescue team discovered one victim identified as Riki Supriadi (male, 40 years old) who had died and was evacuated to Polri Kramat Jati Hospital, according to Jakarta SAR Office Head Desiana Kartika Bahari.

Bantargebang TPST targeted to recover within a week

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting waste management operations at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Facility in Bekasi, West Java, to return to normal within a week following the landslide that occurred on Sunday, 8 March. The Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, stated that the team is currently focused on clearing collapse materials and reorganising the affected area in Zone 4A.

DKI Provincial Government holds car-free night during Ramadan taraweeh prayers

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a motor vehicle-free evening, or car-free night, during Ramadan taraweeh prayers along Jalan MH Thamrin-General Sudirman. “I have already approved it for that evening, starting from 10 PM, we will hold an event called Car Free Night,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo at City Hall on Tuesday.

The Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate reported that a multiple-vehicle accident involving seven vehicles occurred on the JORR toll road at KM 30.800 B direction Kampung Rambutan/Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta. “Seven vehicles were involved: a wing box truck, Honda BRV, Colt diesel truck, Colt diesel box truck, Toyota Innova, Grandmax, and Fuso truck. This incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 15:44 WIB,” said the Head of the Law Enforcement Subdivision of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, AKBP Ojo Ruslani.
