Jakarta Council Speaker Responds to KDM's Black-Themed Floral Tribute on City's Anniversary
A number of floral arrangements lined the courtyard of the Jakarta City Hall on Monday (22/6/2026). The bouquets from various groups conveyed congratulatory messages for the 499th anniversary of Jakarta City. However, one arrangement drew attention due to its black theme amidst the various bright colours of the other bouquets at the Jakarta City Hall courtyard. The congratulatory floral arrangement was inscribed as being from West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, also known as KDM. The Speaker of the Jakarta DPRD, Suhud Aliyudin, said he appreciated the floral tribute from the neighbouring region’s governor. “First, thank you to Mr KDM for sending the flowers,” Suhud said when confirmed by Republika in Jakarta on Monday. Although the floral arrangement had a black theme, he considered the message within it to be good and unique. He noted that it is not often that a congratulatory floral arrangement features a black theme. “Good, unique, it is rare to have a floral arrangement with a black theme like that,” Suhud remarked.
