The Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) is considering the issuance of regional bonds as an alternative financing mechanism to maintain development momentum, as the city awaits the disbursement of approximately Rp15 trillion in Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH) from the central government. Commission B Chairman Nova Harivan Paloh said the delayed transfer has impacted the funding of critical public service projects, including school construction. “The Jakarta Provincial Government needs financing. Therefore, regional bonds can be an alternative to allocate development financing needs,” Nova said after a forum on Thursday. He added that the presence of DPR RI members at the event was expected to strengthen communication to accelerate the DBH disbursement. Nova noted that the bond proceeds could also fund strategic projects such as the Jakarta LRT through regional capital participation. The plan involves a Rp3.5 trillion bond issuance, though it has yet to receive approval.
