Jakarta Community Alliance Rallies Outside DPR, Urges Residents to Keep Capital Conducive
A group of demonstrators calling themselves the Jakarta Community Alliance held a rally in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Senayan, Central Jakarta. They urged all residents to work together to keep the situation in Jakarta conducive. Based on monitoring at the location on Monday (24/8/2026), the crowd arrived in front of the DPR building at 2.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. They appeared to be dressed entirely in white, with some carrying posters bearing their demands.
The rally coordinator, Nofrian, said the group wanted to encourage the public to continue maintaining order and peace in Jakarta. He expressed hope that the situation in the capital would remain safe and free from unrest. "The wish of the Jakarta Community Alliance is to invite all members of the public to keep the city of Jakarta conducive, orderly, peaceful and safe," Nofrian said at the rally site.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant against the circulation of false news or hoaxes on social media. Nofrian cited the potential for incitement to anarchist acts leading to the destruction of public facilities in Jakarta. "We urge the people of Jakarta to be wary of hoax information or news circulating on social media, especially calls to commit anarchist acts, arson and destruction of public facilities in Jakarta," he stressed.
Nofrian also pressed law enforcement officials, particularly the police, to take firm action against provocateurs on social media. He emphasised that Jakarta is a shared home whose sustainability must be protected. "We ask law enforcement officials to arrest provocateurs and owners of social media accounts that spread hoaxes harmful to the public. Jakarta is our shared home, as are the public facilities built using the people’s money. Therefore, let us protect them together. Do not let them be damaged or burned by irresponsible people," he added.
On the other hand, Nofrian stressed that his alliance fully supports the work programmes of President Prabowo Subianto. However, he also asked the government and law enforcement not to compromise with perpetrators of corruption. "So we support Mr Prabowo’s programmes to be continued, but arrest the corruptors and resolve their corruption cases," he concluded.
