Jakarta civil servants who do not use public transport will face strict action

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, has asked his staff to take firm action against the Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) who do not comply with Governor’s Instruction (Ingub) Number 6 of 2025. The Ingub concerns the obligation for Jakarta’s ASN to use public transportation every Wednesday. Even though an inauguration will be held and officials will wear the ujung serong dress or kebaya encim, Pramono still requires ASN to comply with the rule.

‘I am a person who is consistently committed; even if today I wear ujung serong, I will still commute using public transport,’ Pramono said at City Hall on Wednesday. If there is data and facts (ASN not compliant), he will instruct his staff at City Hall to take action against anyone who violates the rule. Because, according to Pramono, this rule is designed so that ASN can set an example for other members of the public to utilise the transportation available in Jakarta. Pramono today inaugurated 521 functional officials from 15 types of positions across 11 regional agencies. The majority of functional officials are personnel from the Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja (Satpol PP), numbering 473. Pramono emphasised that the entire appointment process was conducted in accordance with the principles of fair, transparent and accountable meritocracy. It is known that Pramono generally conducts inaugurations at City Hall every Wednesday. He does this to observe which ASN continue to comply with the Ingub’s requirement to use public transport.
