Jakarta Civil Servants Banned from Using Private Vehicles During Weekly Friday WFH
The Work From Home (WFH) policy on Fridays for Civil Servants (ASN) in DKI Jakarta has raised concerns about potential misuse for extended weekends or long holidays. In response, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement firm restrictions to prevent violations. “Yes, since this is a government decision, the DKI Jakarta government will follow it and we will set up signposts,” Pramono said on Jalan Lembang No. 21, Situ Lembang Guest Area, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4). One crucial restriction being prepared is the prohibition on ASN using private vehicles during the weekly WFH period. “This includes prohibiting the use of private vehicles during work from home,” Pramono added. This step is taken to ensure the policy runs within the proper framework while encouraging the use of public transport facilities that have been made free by the local government. “So that they truly use public transport because all Jakarta ASN get it for free. And that will be our benchmark,” Pramono emphasised. Besides vehicle mobility, the DKI Provincial Government is also focusing on supervision to prevent ASN from using WFH for out-of-town leisure trips. Pramono mentioned that this control mechanism will be directly handed over to the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD). “BKD will regulate that. So it will regulate it. Coincidentally, we had a meeting about this today at 09:30,” he revealed. Previously, the government implemented WFH for ASN one day a week every Friday to promote energy efficiency in the face of global conflicts. The government also restricted the use of official vehicles and encouraged public transport usage. In addition, the government limited domestic official travel by 50 percent and international travel by 70 percent.
