The Work From Home (WFH) policy on Fridays for Civil Servants (ASN) in DKI Jakarta has raised concerns about the misuse of time for long weekends. In response, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) DKI Jakarta will implement firm restrictions to prevent violations. “Yes, since this is a government decision, the DKI Jakarta government will follow it and we will set clear guidelines,” Pramono said on Jalan Lembang No.21, Situ Lembang Guest Area, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/4). One crucial restriction being prepared is the ban on ASN using official vehicles during the weekly WFH period. “This includes prohibiting the use of official vehicles during work from home,” Pramono added. This step is intended to ensure the policy runs within proper bounds while encouraging the use of public transportation facilities that have been made free by the local government. “So that they truly use public transport because all Jakarta ASN have free access. And that will be our benchmark,” Pramono emphasised. Besides vehicle mobility, Pemprov DKI is also focusing on supervision to prevent ASN from using WFH for out-of-town leisure trips. Pramono said that the control mechanism will be directly handled by the Regional Personnel Agency (BKD). “BKD will regulate that. We happen to have a meeting about this today at 09.30,” he revealed. Previously, the government implemented WFH for ASN one day a week every Friday to improve energy efficiency in the face of global conflicts. The government is also limiting the use of official vehicles and promoting public transportation. In addition, domestic official travel is restricted by 50 percent and international by 70 percent.
