JAKARTA — The head of the Jakarta Civil Police Force (Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja/Satpol PP), Satriadi Gunawan, has reminded his personnel to improve patrol quality ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

He emphasised that patrols must not be conducted merely as a formality without assessing actual conditions on the ground. “Conduct patrols routinely. Don’t patrol just to fulfil an obligation. Patrols must be of high quality. Don’t just pass by; if violations are identified, they shouldn’t be ignored,” Satriadi said during a roll call at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (13 March 2026).

He requested that all personnel improve their working methods so that the Civil Police presence is genuinely felt by the public. “I still observe, and I still see many colleagues conducting patrols merely to fulfil obligations, but without considering quality,” Satriadi noted.

In his directive, Satriadi urged all personnel to remain vigilant, particularly ahead of Eid. According to him, security disturbances typically increase during this period. “Map out potential security risks before they occur. Don’t wait for reports. Be the eyes and ears of government in every corner of the city,” he stated.

Additionally, Satriadi instructed officers to act firmly yet humanely. Civil Police personnel were asked to provide education and maintain good communication with the public. He also cautioned officers against adopting an arrogant demeanour whilst performing their duties. “We must ensure local regulation enforcement is firm but conducted humanistically and professionally. I don’t want to hear of the Civil Police being arrogant or overly repressive,” Satriadi said.

Satriadi also instructed his personnel to enhance coordination with the military (TNI), national police (Polri), and local administrative bodies such as neighbourhood associations (RT and RW). Additionally, officers were asked to remind citizens planning to travel for the holiday to ensure their homes are secure before departure.

He also asked regional units to map tourist locations likely to attract large crowds after Eid, so that the presence of Civil Police officers can provide a sense of security and comfort for the public. “Ensure that visitors to tourist destinations feel safe and comfortable. The presence of the Civil Police must be felt by society,” he concluded.
