Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road Begins Congestion Tonight as Contraflow Traffic System Implemented
Traffic management officers have implemented a contraflow traffic system on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road this evening. The traffic engineering measure has been applied to maintain smooth traffic flow during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday period.
Ria Marlinda Paallo, Vice President Corporate Secretary & Legal of PT JTT, stated that the contraflow traffic engineering was implemented at the discretion of the police. The contraflow system was deployed from kilometre 55 to kilometre 70 in the Cikampek direction on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road at 20.43 WIB (Western Indonesia Time).
“Currently, traffic volume has been observed to increase, so we continue to urge users of the Trans-Java toll road to prioritise safety and prepare themselves before embarking on their toll road journey,” Ria said according to Antara on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
Meanwhile, in anticipation of increased traffic volume during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming rush period, PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) has supported the implementation of a local one-way traffic system from kilometre 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road section to kilometre 263 on the Pejagan-Pemalang toll road section beginning Tuesday at 15.18 WIB. This implementation was also carried out at the discretion of the police.
The implementation of traffic engineering measures is described as part of a joint effort between the Jasa Marga Group, the police, and the Ministry of Transportation to maintain smooth vehicle distribution towards the eastern direction of the Trans-Java route, particularly during the peak homecoming rush period.
JTT has undertaken various operational preparations throughout the Trans-Java route to support the smooth implementation of the one-way traffic system. These preparations include setting up traffic signs and traffic cones to support the traffic management scheme, positioning traffic management personnel and security at strategic locations, and optimising toll gate capacity through booth availability management.
Jasamarga has ensured the readiness of Rest and Service Areas (TIP), including capacity management through a situational opening-and-closing mechanism to prevent vehicle congestion within the rest areas.
