Jakarta-Cikampek South Toll Road to Open Functionally During Eid Return Flow
The Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) South toll road section will open functionally during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah return flow period to help reduce congestion on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, which has long been the main route for return travellers.
PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan President Director Charles Lendra stated that the functional scheme is focused on drivers coming from the Cipularang toll direction, with the hope of diverting some vehicle traffic and minimising congestion at the existing toll junction points.
“Since 15 March, the Jakarta-Cikampek South toll road has actually been ready to be traversed, although its use for the return flow will be based on police control. However, we are still preparing ourselves,” Charles said in Cikarang on Wednesday, 19 March 2026, as quoted from Antara.
He explained that this year’s functional return flow access has a longer reach compared to the 2025 mudik period. The section that return travellers can traverse now spans 52 kilometres from Sadang Toll Gate on the Cipularang section to Setu Subdistrict in Bekasi Regency.
From that point, return travellers can continue their journey to Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2 via the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road by utilising the exit access in Setu Subdistrict.
“Currently, it is not yet directly connected from Jakarta-Cikampek South to Cimanggis-Cibitung. But drivers can exit first through Setu then re-enter at Burangkeng Gate. Because the distance is very close, around 100-150 metres,” he said.
Charles assured that during the upcoming functional operation, drivers will not be charged additional fees. Transactions will only be made at Sadang Gate to pay the Cipularang toll fare, while the journey from Sadang to Setu will not incur a charge.
In addition to the endpoint in Setu area, the operator is also preparing three alternative toll exit gates, namely Kutanagara Gate in Karawang Regency as well as Bojongmangu Gate and Sukaragam Gate in Bekasi Regency.
Of the three options, Bojongmangu Gate is predicted to be the favourite point for drivers. Besides having a larger gate capacity, the arterial route from that location is directly connected to the Deltamas industrial area, making it easier for drivers to re-enter the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road via Cikarang Pusat Gate or Cibatu.
Charles also assured that the road conditions are now better prepared than in previous years. This is supported by the optimisation of public street lighting as well as the installation of more complete signage.
The operator is also providing rest facilities in the form of a parking bay located after Bojongmangu Gate. At that location, there is a modular fuel station for vehicles that run out of fuel as well as a rest area with food, drinks, and UMKM products.
“In addition to the rest area in the form of a parking bay located after Bojongmangu Gate, there is also a modular fuel station for drivers whose vehicles run out of fuel, and a rest area where food, drinks, and UMKM products are available,” he said.
To support traffic safety and smoothness, 12 surveillance camera points have been installed to monitor road conditions in real time.
Several operational fleets are also on standby 24 hours a day, from patrol vehicles, ambulances, rescue teams to tow trucks to assist return travellers who encounter problems on the journey.
