Jakarta Car Free Day Schedule and Location Information for This Sunday

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Car Free Day (CFD) activity will once again be held in Jakarta on Sunday, 17th May 2026.

Today, residents can still enjoy the car-free atmosphere in the Jalan Jenderal Sudirman to MH Thamrin area starting in the morning.

The CFD event takes place from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. During this period, road sections in the Sudirman–Thamrin area will be temporarily closed to motorised vehicles so that people can exercise and enjoy a more comfortable public space.

Residents usually use the CFD for various activities, ranging from jogging and cycling to leisurely walks with family in a cleaner and less polluted urban environment.

The CFD in the Sudirman–Thamrin area has become a regular weekly event in Jakarta. This time it coincides with the Digiland Run 2026 event.

As is known, the Jakarta CFD is one of the efforts by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to reduce the use of motorised vehicles while also providing healthy public spaces for residents.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government stated that the CFD on Jalan HR Rasuna Said will only resume in June 2026 after a number of field evaluations have been followed up.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department, Syafrin Liputo, said that the implementation of the CFD in this area still requires several improvements.

According to Syafrin, the implementation of the CFD on 10th May 2026 still left a number of evaluation notes.

Some of these include the lack of turning points on the east and west sides of the corridor, the absence of Transjakarta lane dividers, and the continued presence of illegal parking in several locations.
