Jakarta Car Free Day Schedule and Location During Ramadan Today

Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to hold its weekly car free day (CFD) on Sunday (1 March 2026), coinciding with Ramadan. This routine activity takes place along the Jenderal Sudirman Street to MH Thamrin Street corridor. Citizens can enjoy public space without motorised vehicles from 06:00 to 10:00 WIB.

“For the implementation of car free day during Ramadan, it has been agreed by the entire CFD working team that the CFD at the Jakarta Provincial level will continue to be held every Sunday from 06:00 to 10:00 WIB,” stated the Infocarfreeday Instagram account on Sunday (1 March 2026).

“With the provision that there will be no street vendors (PKL) and no participants in community activities,” it added.

Meanwhile, CFD implementation at several administrative city levels has been cancelled during Ramadan. One example is the CFD in South Jakarta, which is normally held in the Sultan Iskandar Muda Street area.

For context, CFD has long been an opportunity for residents to exercise, take leisurely walks, and enjoy the city atmosphere without pollution and vehicle noise. In addition to sports activities, visitors can typically enjoy various community events and weekly markets (Sunday markets) throughout the Sudirman–Thamrin area. However, during Ramadan, these activities are suspended in accordance with applicable regulations.

The Sudirman–Thamrin CFD is held routinely every Sunday as part of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s commitment to reduce dependence on motorised vehicles whilst providing healthier and more environmentally friendly public space.
