The Goods and Services Procurement Agency (BPPBJ) of DKI Jakarta Province is strengthening the competence of 77 procurement officials in carrying out direct procurement processes. The effort was undertaken through a Technical Guidance (Bimtek) activity titled “Strengthening the Competence and Consistency of Procurement Officials in the Implementation of Direct Procurement” at the BPPBJ Office of DKI Jakarta Province, City Hall Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday. The activity, held on 19-20 August 2026, was attended by 77 Procurement Officials who are Functional Officials for the Management of Goods/Services Procurement (PBJ) within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

Head of BPPBJ DKI Jakarta Province I Dewa Gede Soni Aryawan said the activity served as a forum to align perceptions and strengthen the understanding of procurement officials through various lessons learned from the implementation of direct procurement. “Experiences and problems encountered in practice were discussed together as learning material, so that participants have a more aligned framework of understanding and analysis in facing similar conditions or problems,” Soni said.

According to Soni, BPPBJ DKI Jakarta also used the Bimtek activity to identify various problems and competency development needs of procurement officials. “The results of the identification can subsequently serve as material in the preparation of procurement coaching, consultation and advocacy programmes,” Soni said. Through this competency strengthening, he continued, BPPBJ DKI Jakarta hopes that Procurement Officials will become more professional in carrying out their duties. “Consistency in applying provisions is expected to encourage the implementation of direct procurement that is more accountable, administratively orderly, consistent and justifiable,” Soni said.

He emphasised that the Bimtek was important given that the procurement process is not only related to fulfilling government needs, but also demands precision in every stage and decision. “Uniform understanding and the ability to analyse problems professionally are key to maintaining the quality of procurement implementation within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government,” Soni said. “We presented a PBJP facilitator resource person from the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of Sukabumi City, Mr Fahrurrazi,” Widhi said.

He stressed that procurement officials not only need to understand regulations, but are also required to be able to apply these provisions when facing various concrete conditions in the procurement process that require analysis and professional judgement. “Differences in understanding when facing similar conditions can lead to inconsistency in processes and decision-making,” Widhi explained. Therefore, through the Bimtek, participants were given space to discuss various issues found in direct procurement practice. “Experiences and problems that have been faced serve as shared learning material so that there is a more aligned framework of understanding and analysis,” Widhi added.
