The BEM Persatuan Alliance across Jakarta has responded to the planned action by the Aliansi Masyarakat Pati Bersatu (AMPB) in front of the DPR/MPR/DPD RI building on 27 August. The alliance is urging AMPB to prioritise dialogue.

“We invite all parties to prioritise constructive dialogue, mutually respect differing views, and safeguard democratic space so that it remains a dignified means of conveying ideas oriented towards the national interest,” said Ikhsan Buyung Kalean, Coordinator of BEM Persatuan in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta, on Monday (24/8/2026).

Ikhsan, who is also President of the BEM at Universitas Ibnu Chaldun Jakarta, expressed his hope that AMPB would convey its aspirations objectively and with regard for the common interest. He stated that every aspiration must be delivered responsibly.

“We consider it important to convey positions objectively, proportionally, and based on democratic principles that uphold rights, responsibilities, and the common interest,” he said.

On this occasion, Ikhsan also conveyed that the BEM Persatuan Alliance across Jakarta has adopted a stance regarding AMPB’s upcoming planned action. The following is the stance of the BEM Persatuan Alliance across Jakarta:

  1. Upholding democratic rights and civic responsibility:

We respect the right of every citizen to express opinions in public as guaranteed by the constitution and legislation. The expression of aspirations is an important part of a healthy democratic life. Therefore, every form of expression of opinion should be carried out in an orderly, peaceful, and responsible manner while taking into account the interests of the wider community and public order.

We invite all parties to prioritise constructive dialogue, mutually respect differing views, and safeguard democratic space so that it remains a dignified means of conveying ideas oriented towards the national interest.

  1. Encouraging inclusive and proportional expression of aspirations:

In democratic life, every community group has an equal right to convey views and aspirations in accordance with the interests they champion. We believe that diversity of opinion is a democratic asset that must be respected together. Therefore, every narrative and expression of aspirations should be carried out proportionally and continue to respect other differing views that also exist within society. The spirit of democracy will grow stronger if every party can convey ideas openly, inclusively, and with respect for existing differences.

  1. Maintaining democratic ethics and respecting state institutions:

As part of the constitutional system of the Republic of Indonesia, state institutions have an important role in carrying out governmental and democratic functions. We invite all elements of society who will express aspirations to always maintain democratic ethics, order, and respect for state symbols and institutions as part of national and state life. Criticism, input, and demands regarding public policy are legitimate in a democracy. However, their delivery will be more meaningful if carried out politely, peacefully, and based on a spirit of collective improvement.

  1. Prioritising dialogue, conducive conditions, and solutions:

We believe that every aspiration conveyed properly will make a positive contribution to the development of democratic life. Therefore, we urge all parties to prioritise a dialogical, persuasive, and solution-oriented approach in conveying various views and demands. The strength of a movement lies not only in its ability to voice criticism, but also in its ability to offer ideas, solutions, and real contributions to the progress of society.

  1. Unity amidst diversity of views:

Differences of opinion are natural in a democratic country and should not become a reason to widen the distance between community groups or students. We invite all elements of the nation to continue building healthy communication, mutual respect, and to prioritise a spirit of brotherhood in responding to every difference. Unity does not mean eliminating diversity of views, but rather ensuring that every difference can be managed maturely within the framework of nationhood and the common interest.
