Jakarta Begins Construction of Dukuh Atas 'Donut Ring' Bridge, Completion Set for 2028
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has officially laid the first stone for a circular pedestrian facility, known as the Dukuh Atas pedestrian deck or ‘Donut Ring Bridge’, in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, with completion targeted for 2028. Governor Pramono Anung stated that the facility is designed to connect various public transport modes, including the MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta, LRT Jabodetabek, KRL, Transjakarta, and the airport rail link. The structure will be circular with a diameter of approximately 118 metres and a width of around 12 metres. A commercial area will be incorporated along the pedestrian walkway. Pramono expressed confidence that the airport train service would thrive and become fully integrated, including city check-in facilities. He noted that an official name has not yet been chosen, and the provincial government will hold a public competition to find a suitable name, acknowledging the current ‘Donut Ring’ nickname due to its shape. The governor also highlighted Jakarta’s achievements, noting it now ranks second in ASEAN for public transport after Singapore, eighth in Asia, and seventeenth globally. Jakarta also placed 53rd in the World’s Best Cities 2026 list, surpassing Washington DC.
