Jakarta Bank manages 2.4 million student accounts, Rp1.81 trillion in deposits
Jakarta Bank notes that as of April 2026 it had managed more than 2.4 million student accounts. The total deposits raised from those student accounts amounted to Rp1.81 trillion, derived from Tabungan Pelajar, SimPEL, and KJP Plus. Cited from a press release on Wednesday, 20 May 2026, the achievement forms part of Bank Jakarta’s efforts to broaden financial inclusion and literacy among students through the One Account One Student (KEJAR) Jakarta programme. As a bank owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, Bank Jakarta also channels social assistance in the education sector such as KJP Plus and KJMU through student accounts. A female student in Year 11 at SMAN 28 Jakarta, Zahwa Azalea Reza, said the KEJAR Jakarta programme provides a fresh understanding of the importance of financial management from a young age. ‘The programme is very good because it makes us better understand the importance of saving and managing money from now on. So we can learn to be more disciplined in how we use money,’ Zahwa said. ‘Yes, previously I knew that saving meant simply keeping money in a bank. It turns out there are many programmes offered by banks to customers. Including me, who is still a student,’ she added. Another Year 11 student at SMAN 28 Jakarta, Musthafa Ahmad Hermana, assessed KEJAR Jakarta as a financially beneficial educational tool for students. ‘In my view, this activity is very beneficial for pupils because it teaches how to manage money well and the importance of having savings for the future,’ he said. He added that this initiative helps students understand the world of banking and financial services more closely. KEJAR Jakarta itself is an effort to encourage a saving culture among students while strengthening financial literacy among Jakarta’s younger generation through collaboration between local government, banking, and financial services regulators. In 2025, Bank Jakarta received an award as the best KEJAR implementation in the category of Regional Development Banks.
