The work-from-home (WFH) policy implemented for civil servants (ASN) in the capital is assessed to have a positive impact on traffic conditions. This was stated by the Director of Traffic for Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Komarudin, during monitoring of vehicle flows in Jakarta on Friday (10/4/2026). According to Kombes Pol Komarudin, morning vehicle volumes appeared lower compared to typical working days. Monitoring from the morning until around 09:20 WIB showed traffic flows tending to be smoother on several main roads. He noted that the Sudirman Road area, both from south to north and vice versa, experienced a quite significant reduction in vehicle queues. Similar conditions were observed in the Asia Afrika and Gerbang Pemuda areas, which are usually dense during rush hours. Although many roads were less congested, there were still points experiencing density, especially on the Slipi route towards Semanggi. The density in this area is said to be caused by the convergence of various vehicle flows. According to Komarudin, vehicle flows from toll exit gates, TransJakarta lanes, the Slipi artery, and access from the Bendungan Hilir (Benhil) area intersect, thus creating local congestion points even though the WFH policy has been applied. Overall, Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya assesses that traffic conditions during the implementation of WFH on Friday are in the controlled category. The density level remains within reasonable limits and does not cause long queues on most roads. Kombes Pol Komarudin emphasised that this situation is strong evidence that the implementation of WFH for ASN has a real effect on dispersing congestion, especially at traffic nodes that are usually dense during rush hours. Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo explained that the WFH policy is implemented through Circular Letter Number 3/SE/2026. The regulation stipulates that ASN in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government environment carry out WFH every Friday with a proportion of 25-50 percent, depending on the characteristics of each work unit’s tasks. The Governor emphasised that the implementation of WFH is done selectively so as not to disrupt public services that require physical presence.
