Jakarta apologises for delay in Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT inauguration

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has apologised for the postponement of the LRT inauguration for the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route, including to residents who had adjusted their travel plans due to planned traffic engineering around Manggarai.

Special Staff to the Governor of DKI Jakarta for Public Communication, Chico Hakim, stated that the schedule adjustment was made to ensure that the services received by residents are truly inclusive.

“Access facilities, information, and priority services need to be confirmed as complete before the inauguration, including for persons with disabilities, the elderly, children, and residents changing modes at Manggarai,” Chico explained in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Previously, Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed that the fare for the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route would remain at Rp5,000 during the initial operational period until October 2026.

After this transition period, Pramono said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government would determine the subsequent fare amount, including the possibility of special fares for Jakarta LRT users.

“There is a possibility that the figure will be something of a gift, but we will decide later,” said Pramono.

Nevertheless, Pramono confirmed that 15 groups in Jakarta would continue to receive free transport services.

Furthermore, Pramono confirmed that the construction progress of the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route is 100 percent complete. According to Pramono, the tracks and elevated line of the Jakarta LRT are now finished.

Currently, the remaining process is awaiting testing from the central government through the Ministry of Transportation.
