The Jakarta Provincial Government has offered relief to motor vehicle owners with tax arrears as part of celebrations for the city’s 499th anniversary. Through Decree No. e-0018 of 2026 issued by the Head of the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), administrative penalties in the form of late payment interest for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Vehicle Transfer Tax (BBNKB) have been waived.

Head of the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Lusiana Herawati, stated in an official statement on 30 May 2026: ‘With this policy, vehicle owners with outstanding taxes can settle their obligations without paying late payment penalties.’ Taxpayers are only required to pay the principal tax due, without interest for late payment.

The scheme applies to PKB and BBNKB payments made between 1 June and 31 August 2026. During this period, taxpayers with arrears can settle their dues without incurring late payment interest.

The government hopes the initiative will encourage public compliance with vehicle tax payments and enhance regional tax compliance. Additionally, the move supports efforts to improve digital tax services, allowing residents to resolve tax obligations without additional interest.
