Jakarta Anniversary: Public Transport and Tourist Sites Free for All Indonesian ID Holders
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta will waive fees for public transport and a number of tourist sites during the 499th anniversary of Jakarta, which falls on 22 June 2026. The policy applies to all holders of Indonesian identity cards (KTP).
This was announced by Jakarta Governor Pramono after the ‘Waste Segregation Movement’ assembly at Monas, Jakarta, on Sunday (21/6/2026). Pramono stated that on 22, 27, and 28 June 2026, Jakarta’s public transport and tourist facilities will be free for holders of Indonesian KTP.
‘On this occasion, I would also like to make a slight revision: on the 22nd, 27th, and 28th, both public transport and the tourist facilities owned by Jakarta,’ Pramono told reporters on Sunday (21/6). ‘After receiving input from many parties, especially those wanting to take advantage of this who are mostly from outside Jakarta, it will no longer only apply to Jakarta KTP holders, but to all Indonesian KTP holders,’ he continued.
Previously, Pramono had stated that the free transport and tourist site policy was Jakarta’s birthday gift to residents of the capital. ‘This includes entry to the Ancol area, entry to museums managed by the DKI Jakarta Government, entry to Monas, including if you want to go up and see the whole view,’ said Pramono.
Pramono added that a similar policy also applies to Ragunan Wildlife Park and sports facilities and infrastructure owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. ‘Entry to Ragunan Wildlife Park or Ragunan Zoo, and entry to sports facilities and infrastructure managed by the DKI Jakarta Government,’ he said.
He explained that the free programme will be implemented on Monday (22/6) and Saturday-Sunday (27-28/6). Additionally, free facilities will be offered again during the weekend of Jakarta’s anniversary celebrations, which will involve various entertainment activities and music performances.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also invite a number of musicians from various regions to enliven the anniversary celebrations. Therefore, the public is expected to take advantage of the free facilities provided throughout the series of celebrations. ‘So everything I mentioned from point one to point six will be free. Hopefully, this will bring benefits to the community and, most importantly, make them feel a sense of ownership of Jakarta,’ he concluded.
