Jakarta Anniversary: Pramono Anung Grants Free Access to 11 Museums

The Jakarta Provincial Government is waiving admission fees to 11 museums and cultural sites managed by the DKI Jakarta Culture Service in celebration of the city’s 499th anniversary. According to information posted on the DKI Jakarta Culture Service’s Instagram account @disbuddki, the programme will run for three days, on 22, 27, and 28 June 2026. “Come and enjoy free entry to museums managed by the DKI Jakarta Culture Service,” the Culture Service wrote in its post. The service is encouraging the public to take advantage of the capital’s anniversary celebrations to become more familiar with the city’s history, Betawi culture, art, and the story of the nation’s struggle preserved in these museums. The programme provides an opportunity for the public to visit various historical museums and sites in Jakarta at no cost. As previously stated by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, “We will provide free LRT, MRT, and Transjakarta transport. Including entry to the Ancol area and museums managed by the DKI Jakarta government,” Pramono said on Thursday, 11 June 2026. Pramono said the policy is part of a series of anniversary celebrations aimed at expanding public access to the city’s cultural and historical spaces. The public can visit the following 11 museums and cultural sites free of charge: Museum Wayang, Museum Tekstil, Museum Seni Rupa dan Keramik, Museum Bahari, Museum Arkeologi Onrust, Situs Marunda Rumah Si Pitung, Museum Sejarah Jakarta, Museum MH Thamrin, Museum Prasasti, Museum Joang 45, and Museum Betawi.
