Jakarta Anniversary Peak Celebration at HI Roundabout, Check Weekend Traffic Engineering
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) is preparing situational traffic engineering during the peak celebrations of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, which will be held in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) area on 27-28 June 202pend 2026.
The Head of Jakarta Dishub, Budi Awaluddin, stated that traffic arrangements are being implemented to ensure the event runs smoothly while maintaining public mobility around the event location.
Furthermore, he noted that because the Bundaran HI area will serve as the centre for the 499th Jakarta anniversary peak celebrations, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors, several road segments around the venue will be used to support the series of activities, potentially causing vehicle congestion during certain hours.
“We are preparing situational and gradual traffic arrangements, including alternative routes, parking areas, and public transport support,” said Budi on Thursday (25/6/2026).
According to him, traffic management will be carried out on several road segments directly intersecting with the event location from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM WIB.
Some potentially affected roads include Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman (segment Bundaran HI-Dukuh Atas), Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Sutan Syahrir, Jalan Teluk Betung, Jalan Kotabumi, Jalan Sumenep, and Jalan M Mashabi.
To anticipate congestion, Jakarta Dishub has prepared several alternative routes. Road users travelling from the Harmoni direction towards Semanggi can pass through Jalan Ir H Juanda, Jalan Suryopranoto, and Jalan KH Mas Mansyur to Jalan Prof Dr Satrio. Meanwhile, vehicles from the Tugu Tani direction towards Tanah Abang can use the route via Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Budi Kemuliaan, Jalan Abdul Muis, and Jalan Fachrudin.
Road users from the Menteng direction towards Tanah Abang can travel via Jalan Agus Salim, Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim, and Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, or via Jalan Kebon Sirih and Jalan Fachrudin. Meanwhile, vehicles from the Semanggi direction towards Harmoni can use Jalan KH Mas Mansyur, Jalan Cideng Barat, and Jalan Suryopranoto.
To support the smooth running of the event, Jakarta Dishub is deploying 475 personnel who will be tasked with managing traffic and providing services to the public throughout the event.
Budi urged the public to adjust their travel times, use alternative routes, and avoid affected roads to reduce the potential for vehicle congestion.
Nevertheless, traffic flow on Jalan Kebon Sirih and Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim from west to east and vice versa will remain normal and accessible to road users.
Jakarta Dishub also requested that the public comply with the instructions of officers on the ground to ensure safety and smooth traffic during the peak of the Jakarta anniversary celebrations.
