The North Jakarta Parks and Urban Forest Sub-agency (Tamhut) has presented decorations titled ‘Green Symphony of a Global City, Jakarta Towards 5 Centuries of Sustainability’ in a number of public spaces. “These colourful flower installations symbolise Jakarta’s spirit of continuous growth as a global city without neglecting environmental sustainability,” said Head of the North Jakarta Administrative City Tamhut Sub-agency, Reina Camelia, in Jakarta on Thursday. She said the decorations were designed not only to beautify the area but also to create a comfortable, fresh, and calming atmosphere for the public. According to her, various ornamental plants such as roses, marigolds, chrysanthemums, orchids, and monstera were presented to create more beautiful public spaces while serving as a place of refreshment for residents and employees. Reina explained that the floral decorations were placed in several strategic locations with sizes adjusted to field conditions, including the lobby area and front terrace of the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office, Simpang Kelapa Gading, Perintis Kemerdekaan, and the median of Jalan Yos Sudarso at the North Jakarta Police Resort segment. The floral decorations will also adorn public spaces until the end of June, giving the public the opportunity to enjoy the beauty while capturing moments at these locations. She expressed hope that the 499th anniversary of the City of Jakarta would become a momentum to strengthen the spirit of collaboration in realising a capital city that is greener, more inclusive, and globally competitive. “At the age of 499, Jakarta continues to demonstrate its ability to grow and adapt. Through collaboration with all elements of society, we can realise a sustainable Jakarta that is increasingly comfortable for all,” said Reina. A North Jakarta resident, Maryati (44), admitted she was captivated by the new, more beautiful and refreshing atmosphere. “The plants are very beautiful and the atmosphere is fresher and more beautiful. I even took photos because the background was so nice. Hopefully Jakarta will continue to progress, its environment will become greener, and public services will continue to improve,” she said.
