Jakarta Anniversary: 50% Discount on Electricity Power Upgrades

PT PLN Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Jakarta Raya is offering a 50 per cent discount on electricity power upgrade fees for customers to mark Jakarta’s 499th anniversary. The programme runs from 10 to 23 June 2026 for all customer categories.

General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya Moch Andy Adchaminoerdin stated that the promotion is available for household, business, social, public and industrial customers applying for single-phase power upgrades up to a maximum of 7,700 VA.

‘For instance, from 450 VA to 900 VA or from 900 VA to 2,200 VA, you can get a 50 per cent discount,’ Andy said on Wednesday (10/6/2026).

He explained that customers wishing to use the promotion simply need to make a transaction via the PLN Mobile app, whether purchasing electricity tokens or paying bills. Following a successful transaction, customers will receive a voucher code that can be used to apply for a power upgrade.

According to Andy, the programme is expected to support the economic activities of residents and businesses in Jakarta that require additional electricity supply for productive activities.

‘We hope this programme can support the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government so that public economic activity grows, MSMEs further develop, and ultimately Jakarta’s economy improves,’ he said.

Nevertheless, there are several conditions customers must meet to obtain the discount. Customers must not have outstanding electricity bills and must have been registered as PLN customers since May 2026.

‘If there are arrears, they must of course be settled first. In addition, customers must already be PLN customers since May. So new customers who register in June cannot immediately join this programme,’ Andy said.

On the occasion, Andy also reminded the public not to make illegal electricity connections. Besides violating regulations, this practice carries potential safety risks such as short circuits and fires.

He noted that cases of independent power additions using non-standard installations are still found. This condition is considered dangerous, especially in densely populated residential areas.

‘We continue to educate the public about the dangers of illegal electricity connections. Many cases are found of using cables that do not meet standards, potentially causing short circuits,’ he concluded.
