It has been reported in the mass media that the Jakarta
administration has allocated a lot of money to ensure that
Jakarta will be flood-free and that well-made surveys have been
presented before the city's community elders to ensure that the
city's flood management project will gain the necessary support
from the public.

Unfortunately, it has also been learned that in its effort to
prevent flooding in the city, the Jakarta city administration has
reclaimed the northern coastal area of Jakarta and installed
pumps, to keep water off the roads, the capacity of which may not
be compatible with the magnitude of the floods. Besides, there is
no knowing when its Eastern Flood Canal project will be
completed.

There is no guarantee, therefore, that this year Jakarta will
be flood-free.
