Jakarta also prepares free sea-based mudik to 10 islands in the Thousand Islands

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) is also preparing a Free Sea Transport Mudik programme for residents heading to 10 islands in the Kepulauan Seribu Regency this year. ‘This programme is one of the local government’s efforts to facilitate residents’ mobility ahead of Eid al-Fitr,’ said the head of the Jakarta Department of Transportation, Syafrin Liputo, in Jakarta on Thursday. He said the free Mudik sea transport will serve journeys to ten islands in the Kepulauan Seribu. The destination islands provided are Untung Jawa, Pramuka, Panggang, Lancang, Pari, Kelapa, Payung, Harapan, Tidung and Sebira. He said the programme is intended for residents of Kepulauan Seribu who wish to return home by sea at no cost. ‘Through this programme, it is hoped residents can undertake Mudik travel more safely, more comfortably, and without transport costs,’ he said. The agency also provides an information service for the public who want to know more about the programme via a call centre at number 0821-4567-6525 operating from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00 WIB. ‘After registration is complete, participants will undergo online verification before the departure scheduled for 18 March 2026,’ he said. He explained that registration for the programme will open from 9 to 12 March 2026. The requirements are for students, university students, or Kepulauan Seribu residents proven by identity documents such as KTP, SIM, student card, or Family Card (KK). Then students, university students, or Kepulauan Seribu residents who have moved domicile are proven by KTP, SIM, student card or KK and a letter of statement from the kelurahan in Kepulauan Seribu. Next, children aged over three years must be registered and proven with a child identity card. ‘Luggage carried by passengers must be no larger than a 20-inch suitcase,’ he said.
