Jakarta allocates Rp166 billion for 2028 PON venue revitalisation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has allocated a budget of Rp166 billion in the 2027 Regional Budget (APBD) to revitalise sports venues as part of preparations to become a supporting city hosting matches for 17 sports at the NTB/NTT 2028 National Games (PON).
“Jakarta has highly adequate facilities and infrastructure, not only to national standards but also international ones, so it is certainly a source of pride for the athletes competing, because these venues have also been used for international events. That is why we will continue to improve,” said Head of the Youth and Sports Office Andri Yansyah following a SIWO PWI Jaya discussion themed “Optimising Jakarta as a Supporting City for PON XXII NTB/NTT 2028” at the KONI DKI Jakarta office on Thursday.
According to Andri, the budget in the 2028 APBD will subsequently be focused on supporting operational needs for the event, such as referees’ honoraria, match equipment and various other technical requirements.
Andri stated that, based on a decision by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, DKI Jakarta has been designated as one of the supporting regions for PON 2028. He said this status forms the basis for the regional government to prepare all aspects of the event from next year onwards.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also optimise public transport support, which is already connected to many of the competition venues as well as accommodation for athletes and officials. The availability of volunteers is also being prepared to assist athletes, officials and spectators during the PON.
Andri added that the regional government will also involve micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including those mentored by the provincial government, to enliven the activities so that the national multi-sport event also delivers economic benefits to the community.
As a supporting city, Jakarta will host matches for 17 sports, namely aquatics (diving, swimming, artistic swimming, open water swimming and water polo), fencing, gymnastics (artistic, rhythmic and aerobic), shooting, cycling (road race and track), equestrian, baseball and softball. These will be followed by tennis, wrestling, ice skating, skateboarding and roller skating, bowling, rowing (canoe, rowing and TBR), korfball, teqball, squash, and drum band.
