The head of the Jakarta Provincial Department for Public Housing and Settlement Areas (DPRKP), Kelik Indriyanto, said the target will still be adjusted according to the latest data on the locations of slum areas in Jakarta.

If next year we have 50 slum RW that can be tackled, we will see how it develops, because this is still before the RW was announced yesterday; it has already been proposed previously, he said at the DPRKP office in Central Jakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026.

Kelik said his agency will re-propose the prioritized areas to be tackled based on the level of need on the ground.

We will propose again later, which indeed needs to be tackled first, he added.

According to him, slum-area handling going forward will be more specifically targeted at points at the RT level. This is because in the BPS data, one RT that is classified as slum can cause one RW to be classified as a slum RW.

According to BPS, if there is one RT that is slum, then it is called a slum RW. So we will try to go directly to the RT identified by BPS as slum, we will go there, he explained.

He said the handling of slum areas will be adjusted to the problems in each region. The programs implemented can range from infrastructure improvements to social and economic interventions for the community.

We will really address the issue according to the disease. So we will focus on the locations that the BPS Jakarta still labels as slum, he said.

Kelik added that the 50 slum RW targeted for tackling in 2027 are spread across Jakarta’s five regions.

Spread out, in five regions they all are, he added.
