Jakarta Agro 2001 held at Banteng Square

JAKARTA: An exhibition on agricultural products and technology
titled Jakarta Agro 2001 is being held at Banteng soccer field in
Central Jakarta.

The 10-day exhibition, which was officially opened by City
Governor Sutiyoso on Friday, also has forestry and fishery
products on display.

Sutiyoso hoped the exhibition would be able to promote
agricultural and forestry products for domestic and international
markets.

"We hope the event will not just be a promotion for the
products, but that it could be used as a way to increase tourism
to the city," the governor said.

The event, which was initiated by the city's agricultural,
fishery and forestry agencies as well as the Jakarta Fair
Foundation, was also participated by some provincial
administration and universities.

The provincial administrations that joined the exhibition were
East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Bali, South Sumatra, South
Sulawesi, North Sumatra and Lampung. --JP
