Jakarta Administration Says Parking App Boosts Retribution by Up to 300 Percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The provincial government of DKI Jakarta has stated that the implementation of a parking application system has proven to significantly boost parking levies in the Monas area of Central Jakarta, reaching as much as 300 per cent.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency Budi Awaluddin said the system is still operated manually, so it needs to be integrated with artificial intelligence (AI)-based surveillance cameras (CCTV) to automatically calculate vehicle volumes.
“This system automatically validates the number of vehicles entering and leaving against transaction data, with the aim of preventing leakage,” Budi said.
In addition, he said, the on-street parking system also needs modernisation, such as on Jalan Sabang, because the equipment there is no longer fit for use.
Furthermore, the use of digital payment methods, such as QRIS or EDC, also needs more modern updating.
“We are currently piloting various innovations in modern parking systems based on automatic tap technology that are faster and more efficient,” Budi said.
He also asked the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to promptly evaluate the effectiveness of the parking digitalisation system, so that parking levy targets can be achieved optimally and transparently.
“Evaluate before moving on to the next stage,” said Nova.
