The Jakarta Provincial Education Office (Disdik) has announced that the implementation of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year will accommodate 245,980 new pupils, covering state education units, the Joint SPMB, and free private schools. Head of Jakarta Disdik, Nahdiana, stated that the 2026/2027 SPMB is designed to ensure every child in Jakarta has an equal opportunity to access quality education. “We are implementing the SPMB for the 2026/2027 Academic Year to ensure new student admissions are more objective, transparent, and inclusive,” she said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, 15 June 2026. The implementation of the 2026/2027 SPMB refers to Governor’s Decree Number 238 of 2026 concerning Technical Guidelines for New Student Admissions. Its scope includes new student admissions for state education units at the PAUD (early childhood), SD (primary), SMP (lower secondary), SMA (upper secondary), SMK (vocational), SLB (special needs), and SKB (community learning centre) levels, as well as private education units through the Joint SPMB and the Free Private School SPMB. For the 2026/2027 Academic Year, the capacity of state education units reaches 228,163 new pupils. The breakdown consists of 6,310 PAUD pupils, 95,965 SD pupils, 73,289 SMP pupils, 29,337 SMA pupils, 19,541 SMK pupils, 891 SLB pupils, and 2,830 SKB pupils. Additionally, the Joint SPMB, involving 298 private schools, provides a capacity of 7,708 new pupils, comprising 1,597 SMP pupils, 2,519 SMA pupils, and 3,592 SMK pupils. Meanwhile, the Free Private School SPMB, involving 103 schools, provides a capacity of 10,109 new pupils for the SD, SMP, SMA, SMK, and SLB levels. The 2026/2027 SPMB offers four admission pathways: the achievement pathway, the affirmation pathway, the domicile pathway, and the transfer pathway. The achievement pathway is intended for prospective pupils with academic or non-academic achievements. The affirmation pathway is aimed at prospective pupils from underprivileged families. The domicile pathway considers the proximity of residence to the school, domicile distribution, and capacity. The transfer pathway is intended for children of families whose parents are reassigned, as well as children of teachers or education staff who wish to attend school where their parents work. In terms of mechanism, the SPMB is conducted online for state schools at the SD, SMP, SMA, and SMK levels, as well as private schools participating in the Joint SPMB. For PAUD, SLB, and SKB, implementation is carried out in a hybrid manner, combining online and offline methods. Meanwhile, the Free Private School SPMB is conducted offline.
