Jakarta Administration Confirms CCTV Operated Normally During Student Protest

Several CCTV cameras in the Bundaran HI area, Central Jakarta, were reported to be offline or inaccessible to the public during student protests this afternoon. The Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Office (Diskominfotik) has provided an explanation regarding the incident.

The Head of Diskominfotik Jakarta, Marulina Dewi, emphasised that all CCTV infrastructure operated by the Jakarta Provincial Government in the area is in prime condition and functioning as intended.

“We ensure that the operation of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s CCTV remains normal and is actively used to support security, order, public safety, and regional monitoring, including coordination with the police,” said Marulina, as quoted from the official Jakarta Provincial Government website on Friday (12/06/202_).

Marulina responded to public complaints regarding visual access issues circulating on social media. She explained that the disruptions occurred on digital platforms owned by third parties, rather than within the Jakarta Provincial Government’s own system.

“Regarding the access issues on several CCTV broadcasts circulating on certain platforms or websites, we emphasise that those platforms are not official channels nor part of the CCTV system managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government,” she asserted.

Consequently, Marulina stated that data availability, streaming smoothness, or broadcast disruptions occurring on those platforms are entirely outside the management of the Jakarta Provincial Government.

According to her, these issues do not reflect the operational or functional condition of the original CCTV cameras owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government, which continue to record and monitor the situation optimally on the ground.
