Jagorawi Toll Damage Fully Addressed, Jasa Marga: Lanes Back to Normal
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The preparedness of toll road infrastructure managers was once again tested following an incident involving damage to the road surface on the Jagorawi toll road towards Bogor, which caused technical issues with vehicle tyres on Thursday night (30/4/2026). PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk responded to the incident by quickly carrying out lane restoration to ensure the stability of connectivity and the safety of road users. The incident, captured in visual documentation by road users, showed a line of vehicles forced to pull over due to tyre damage after passing the peeled section of the road. By Friday (1/5/2026), Jasa Marga confirmed that all damaged points had been addressed and the lanes could be used normally by the public. In addition to physical infrastructure repairs, the company also demonstrated administrative responsibility by providing compensation to six vehicle owners who officially reported tyre damage due to the road conditions. Senior General Manager of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad (JMT), Widyatmiko Nursejati, expressed apologies for the disruption to user comfort. This remedial action was accompanied by an increase in patrol intensity, considering that extreme weather and high rainfall were the main catalysts for road surface degradation. Jasa Marga emphasised that regular monitoring would continue to eliminate the potential for similar hazards in the future. The main focus now is on stricter preventive maintenance. The structural integrity of toll roads is a key pillar in public transportation services, making the readiness of field personnel crucial to ensuring lane usability. The normalisation of the Jagorawi lanes is expected to restore public trust in national infrastructure safety standards. For road users, transparency in reporting and the speed of handling set an important precedent for professional and accountable toll road management.
