Jagoi Babang Customs Facilitates Fisheries Exports to Malaysia, Valued at Rp 16.09 Billion
Jagoi Babang Customs has ensured that fishery export commodities through the Jagoi Babang Integrated Border Post (PLBN) remain steady through August 2024. Through synergy with the BKHIT Jagoi Babang Service Unit, Jagoi Babang Customs has facilitated the export of 676.96 tonnes of fishery commodities with a total export value reaching Rp 16.09 billion.
The Head of the Jagoi Babang Customs Office, Arman Tarmidji, stated that these fishery commodities are sent to Malaysia by general businesses as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), featuring a diverse range of export products. These products include prawns, crabs, clams, pomfret, snapper, squid, mackerel, grouper, blue swimming crabs, cuttlefish, salted fish, and various other types of fish and fishery products.
Arman noted that this export facilitation is an implementation of Customs’ function as a trade facilitator and industrial assistant. According to him, the diversity of these commodities demonstrates the potential of fishery products from the border region to penetrate international markets.
“We are striving to provide optimal service and facilitation to business actors, including MSMEs, so that the potential of fishery products from the border region can have wider market access. Synergy with the BKHIT Jagoi Babang Service Unit is also a vital part of ensuring that export activities run smoothly, orderly, and in accordance with regulations,” he said.
Arman expressed hope that these activities would benefit the community and business actors through expanded market access and increased economic value for fishery products. “For Customs, this activity is a manifestation of our support for the smooth running of international trade, as well as the execution of our service and customs supervision functions. For the state, the increase in fishery commodity exports supports international trade activities, the acquisition of foreign exchange, the utilisation of local resource potential, and economic growth in the border region,” he added.
Arman emphasised that Jagoi Babang Customs will continue to strengthen synergy with relevant agencies and provide facilitation to business actors to encourage increased exports from the border area.
“Through optimal service and cross-agency collaboration, export activities are expected to grow further, enabling wider market opportunities for local products, increasing the economic activity of the community, and contributing to the national economy,” he concluded.
