Jagoi Babang Border Post Welcomes Visit from Malaysian Army Chief, Strengthening Border Security Coordination
The Pos Lintas Batas Negara (PLBN) of the National Border Management Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNPP RI) at Jagoi Babang received a visit from the Chief of the Malaysian Army (PTD), General Dato Azhan MD Othman, on Saturday (28/3/2026). The visit was conducted to directly inspect the conditions of the Indonesia-Malaysia border area while strengthening cross-border security coordination. The delegation was accompanied by the Commander of the Tanjungpura Military Regional Command (Pangdam) XII, Novi Rubadi Sugito, and the Head of PLBN Jagoi Babang, Misdo J Purba. During the agenda, the Malaysian Army Chief and his entourage inspected the Core Building of PLBN Jagoi Babang, particularly the arrival area, to directly observe the cross-border service facilities. The inspection focused on the supporting facilities and infrastructure for customs, immigration, quarantine, and security (CIQS) services as part of efforts to ensure safe, orderly, and optimal services for border crossers. In addition to inspecting the PLBN facilities, the delegation also visited the Gapma Koki Jagoi Babang Post. At this location, General Dato Azhan MD Othman delivered directives to personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Malaysian Army (TDM), emphasising the importance of cooperation in maintaining border area security. According to him, solid synergy is needed to prevent various potential disruptions, including smuggling and cross-border illegal activities. Meanwhile, Pangdam Novi Rubadi Sugito stated that the visit holds strategic significance in strengthening Indonesia-Malaysia border security coordination. “This visit is an important part in strengthening coordination and synergy for securing the Indonesia-Malaysia border area,” he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com. “Inter-agency collaboration is very necessary to maintain stability and support services in the border area,” he added. On the other hand, the Head of PLBN Jagoi Babang, Misdo J Purba, appreciated the visit from the Malaysian Army Chief and his entourage. He hopes that the established collaboration can continue to be strengthened to create a secure, orderly border area that benefits the communities of both countries. For information, the event was attended by members of the Jagoi Babang Sub-District Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimcam) as well as representatives of CIQS agencies stationed at PLBN Jagoi Babang.
