‘Jago’ Thug Who Ran Amok at Bogor Herbal Drink Stall Arrested by Police
Police have arrested an 18-year-old man with the initials IK who was carrying a machete and causing a disturbance in Citeureup District, Bogor Regency, West Java. IK appeared helpless when he was arrested at his residence.
In a video shared on Friday (17/7/2026), a number of investigators were seen holding IK. They then bound his hands with cable ties.
Residents witnessed the arrest of the thug who had run amok at a herbal drink stall. One resident commented on the actions frequently carried out by IK. The resident said IK’s behaviour had made the community uneasy. Besides asking for alcoholic beverages at the herbal drink stall, during the incident, IK also extorted the stall keeper.
“If he hadn’t been caught, we wouldn’t be at peace,” said one resident during the arrest.
“Yes, ma’am,” replied one of the investigators.
IK was then escorted by investigators to a police car. He remained silent with his hands tied behind his back.
Previously, police revealed the motive of the young man who carried a machete and caused a disturbance in Citeureup District, Bogor Regency. The perpetrator felt he was an akamsi (anak kampung sini, or local village lad) and could therefore do as he pleased.
“He felt he was a local, someone from around here, even though his boarding house wasn’t far from the crime scene,” said Citeureup Police Chief Kompol Eddy Santosa.
Sometimes, his thuggish actions were accompanied by demands for money or other items. Over time, the community became increasingly angered by his behaviour.
“Yes, sometimes he would extort people. The community eventually got fed up. But thank God he has been identified and secured. Now we are just waiting for the results of the process,” he stated.
Eddy could not yet confirm whether the perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol during his actions. The investigation into the perpetrator is currently ongoing.
