Jago Syariah: 40,000 customers make use of Hajj and Umrah Pocket features
Our internal data shows an upward trend related to religious activities, particularly preparing for the pilgrimage to the Holy Land. PT Bank Jago Tbk (ARTO), through its Sharia Unit (Jago Syariah), notes that to date more than 40,000 customers have begun planning worship for the Holy Land through the use of the Hajj Pocket and Umrah Pocket features. “Our internal data shows an increasing trend related to religious activities (financial planning/transactions for worship), especially preparing for the Hajj or Umrah,” said Waasi Sumintardja, Head of Sharia Business Bank at Jago, in Jakarta on Wednesday. He said the Hajj Pocket and Umrah Pocket features were launched in October 2025. The feature consists of a dedicated template for saving for Hajj and Umrah that allows customers to separate and allocate funds according to financial goals in a more structured manner. Although introduced only a few months ago, customer enthusiasm for the feature has been high. From launch through January 2026, 16,000 customers have created a Hajj Pocket and 20,000 customers have opened an Umrah Pocket. Waasi also noted that during the first two weeks of Ramadan, around 142,000 customers were recorded as more actively using various pocket features for religious needs. During that period, the Hajj and Umrah Pockets ranked fourth in terms of usage. The first place is held by the pocket for planning funds for the Qurban sacrifice, followed by Ramadan needs and THR (holiday allowance) in second place, and Zakat, charity, and infak in third. Waasi said the ranking is situational because data were collected during Ramadan, so the composition could change at different periods. Nevertheless, he said, this condition shows that Jago Syariah customers are becoming increasingly disciplined in managing their finances. They are not only preparing for short-term needs but are also starting to plan long-term needs more systematically. Interestingly, he added, around 5 percent of the pockets used for religious needs are shared pockets. This feature allows more than one user to manage funds in the same pocket, for example to plan Umrah pilgrimage collectively. During Ramadan’s first roughly two weeks, Jago Syariah also recorded that charitable/donations transactions rose by up to 250 percent. More than 68 percent of customers perform zakat and charitable giving from dawn to dhuha, and 53 percent of charitable transactions are directed to honour or support orphans through the Jago Amal feature. Overall, by December 2025, total Jago Syariah users reached nearly 2.4 million customers, a 16.5 percent year-on-year increase.
