JAFF opens opportunities for Australian film industry to explore partnerships in Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) is opening opportunities for dozens of Australian film producers and filmmakers to establish partnerships in Indonesia through the ‘Producers Exchange’ programme, initiated at the JAFF Market in collaboration with the Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) and mylab.
The programme, which enables Australian filmmakers and producers to partner with Indonesian and Asia-Pacific film professionals, will take place during the third year of the JAFF Market in Yogyakarta from 28 to 30 November 2026.
“With the introduction of ‘Producers Exchange’ alongside the JAFF Future Project, we are expanding discussions from individual projects towards long-term relationships between producers and the film industries of Australia and Southeast Asia,” stated JAFF Market Director Linda Gozali in a press release in Jakarta on Monday.
The AFF will specifically seek film projects that share narrative or production links with Indonesia, prioritising works that are currently in the work-in-progress stage.
A representative from each selected film project, whether a producer, writer, or director, will receive travel assistance to attend the JAFF Market.
In addition to travel support to Yogyakarta, the collaborative programme will facilitate meetings between 12 selected Australian filmmakers and producers and potential industry partners across the Asia-Pacific through open networking sessions.
Participants will also receive partner-matching services from mylab to help them understand the film industry opportunities within the Asia-Pacific region.
All participant facilities, including market accreditation, access to meetings, and travel assistance for representatives to Yogyakarta, are funded by the Australian Government’s Office for the Arts through the Festival Bridges initiative.
The Festival Bridges initiative, led by the AFF, supports the participation of Australian filmmakers in various international film festivals and markets, including partnerships with the ‘Marché du Film’ at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
