Jaecoo offers NEV SUVs for a range of mobility needs
Jaecoo, a Chinese automotive company, is expanding its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) lineup in Indonesia with the J5 EV, J7 SHS-P, and J8 SHS-P ARDIS as diverse options to meet the mobility needs of the Indonesian public. Jim Ma, Business Unit Director of Jaecoo Indonesia, said Indonesian consumers are no longer seeking only energy-efficient vehicles but also value comfort and SUV capability that can be used in a range of road conditions. “We want to offer a more complete NEV SUV choice for the diverse mobility needs of Indonesians,” Ma said in a statement from Bogor on Thursday. Jaecoo currently markets the J5 EV as a pure electric SUV, along with the J7 SHS-P and J8 SHS-P ARDIS which use the Super Hybrid System (SHS). Ma revealed that the J5 EV has become the backbone of Jaecoo’s electric vehicle sales in Indonesia, recording retail sales of 10,587 units and wholesale 11,006 units in January–April 2026. Additionally, the vehicle has a ground clearance of 200 mm designed to support mobility in various road conditions. Meanwhile, the hybrid J7 SHS-P offers a combined range of up to 1,377 kilometres when the battery and fuel tank are full, with fuel consumption of about 35 kilometres per litre. The J7 SHS-P is also equipped with Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), a 540-degree camera, and a transparent chassis feature to aid visibility. In the top-spec J8 SHS-P ARDIS, Jaecoo outfits the vehicle with ARDIS all-wheel drive and nine drive modes. The plug-in hybrid SUV also set a Record in the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as the longest-distance PHEV in Indonesia after travelling 1,660 kilometres on a single full charge of fuel and battery. To support market expansion, Jaecoo currently operates 35 dealers in Indonesia and aims for a total of 80 dealers by the end of 2026. “Jaecoo continues to expand its network and after-sales service as part of the company’s long-term commitment to delivering a more comfortable and trusted ownership experience,” Ma said.
