Jaecoo J5 PHEV Not Yet Entering Indonesia, Here's Why
WUHU, KOMPAS.com – The arrival of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant of the Jaecoo J5 is beginning to be anticipated in Indonesia, following the pure electric variant or Jaecoo J5 EV, which has been selling well in the domestic market. For information, the Jaecoo J5 PHEV has already been introduced in several countries, thus raising questions about when it will follow to the homeland. In response to this, Business Unit Director of Jaecoo Indonesia, Jim Ma, said that the company is currently still prioritising pure electric vehicles or battery electric vehicles (BEVs). He added that the decision to bring the PHEV variant to Indonesia will also consider market conditions, including developments in fuel prices. “But I think, as long as petrol prices continue to fluctuate, I think BEV products will still be the focus for the Indonesian market,” said Jim. Nevertheless, it does not rule out the possibility that the PHEV variant will follow, especially if consumer demand starts to shift towards hybrid technology as an alternative amid the electrification transition.
