JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The waiting period for new cars often captures consumer attention, no exception for the Jaecoo J5 EV, which has received positive responses from Indonesian society since its initial launch. Several prospective owners have begun complaining about the long delivery times for units. This situation has even prompted some consumers to cancel their orders because they do not want to wait too long. Location is the primary determinant of how quickly or slowly the car reaches the consumer’s hands. “Actually, it depends on the consumer’s location. In Jakarta, it might be less than one month. But outside Jakarta or outside the Java region, such as other islands. They might take a longer time because of delivery and logistics,” said Jim Ma, when met in South Jakarta on Saturday (11/4/2026). In addition to geographical factors, strengthening the dealer network is also a focus for Jaecoo to accelerate unit distribution while improving services to consumers. This step is expected to reduce waiting times and ensure optimal after-sales services. “For the network, currently we have more than 30 dealers across Indonesia. And we are targeting around 80 dealers by the end of the year across Indonesia. To cover all services and after-sales for all customers throughout Indonesia,” said Jim Ma. Not only that, Jaecoo is also relying on two production facilities in Indonesia. Jim Ma explained that production currently involves collaboration with two factories, namely those of Handal Indonesia Motor and Inchcape. “Now production involves factories, so at Handal and at Inchcape. So we have two factories to maximise and accelerate our production and delivery to customers in Indonesia,” he said. With support from two production facilities and ongoing dealer network expansion, Jaecoo hopes that J5 EV distribution can become faster and more even, so that consumer concerns about waiting periods can gradually be resolved.
