JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Chinese automaker Jaecoo is beginning to direct its focus towards electrified vehicles for the Indonesian market. This move aligns with the global trend promoting the use of environmentally friendly vehicles.

Jaecoo Indonesia’s Business Unit Director, Jim Ma, stated that the company has a wide range of product options from its parent company, Chery Group. However, the strategy adopted will be tailored to the current market conditions.

“Chery Group is a very strong company. We have many product options that we can choose from,” said Jim Ma, when met in South Jakarta on Saturday (11/4/2026).

“But I think currently everyone is facing issues with fuel prices. Not just in our country, but worldwide. So I think we will focus on NEVs,” he added.

NEV (New Energy Vehicle) itself encompasses battery electric vehicles (BEVs) as well as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).

Jim Ma emphasised that going forward, Jaecoo will prioritise both types of technology for the Indonesian market.

“In the future, whether BEV or PHEV, they will be our target products in the Indonesian market. And if I mention it, BEV will become more important than the others,” he said.

With this strategy, Jaecoo demonstrates its seriousness in competing in the increasingly developing electrified vehicle segment in Indonesia.
